2019 HVC Summer Clinics

Horseshoe Volleyball Club Spring/Summer Clinics at Joshua House Armory in Tyrone

At the bottom of the page you will find flyers for several opportunities for different ages this summer offered by Horseshoe Volleyball Club.  If you plan to participate in any of our summer clinics you MUST complete a Release of Liability form prior to participating. All players must have an adult complete this and you can bring this  release with you to the first clinic you attend. I will also have extra copies available at each clinic. This release of liability is below.

Summer clinic opportunities include:

- Summer Positional Skills Clinics (girls entering 9th to 12 grades)

- Summer All Skills Clinics (girls entering 6th through 8th grades)

- Middle/Setter Clinic (intermediate/advanced players entering 9th - 12th grades)

- Youth Development Program (girls entering 1st through 3rd grades)

- Elementary Development Program (girls entering 4th through 6th grades)

Below you will find some detailed information regarding our most in-depth skills training, the "Summer Position Skills Clinic" and the "Summer All Skills Clinic." The available spots for these clinics fill up rather quickly.  If you are a more advanced player looking for competitive training, email me separately and I can provide you with some more information.

The dates for the 2019 Horseshoe Volleyball Club summer clinics have been finalized.  There will again be a junior high skills clinic this summer for girls entering 6th through 8th grades.  All girls entering 9th through 12th grade will be considered part of the "senior high" group.  Girls graduating this spring WILL NOT be eligible for these summer clinics.  If you are playing college at the competitive level, please contact Mike Kraft to discuss participating in these clinics or getting involved in other opportunities.

If you have not been involved with these clinics in the past four years, they are held weekly and will be progressive.  This means we will progress the skills as the summer moves forward (i.e. starting with more basic skills and moving to more advanced skills).  Senior High girls (entering 9th - 12th grades) will be offered two positional groupings: "Setters/Liberos" will be one group and the other group will be "Hitters." The junior high group (entering 6th - 8th grades) will not be split by position and will focus on ALL skill development.

The setters/libero group will focus primarily on passing, setting, serving and defense.  The hitting group will focus primarily on hitting, serving, passing and blocking.  Our philosophy is for every athlete to learn all skills in order to make them more valuable on their current/future teams.  Because of this, the hitters will occasionally be asked to do defensive drills, liberos asked to do setting drills, etc.

During these clinics, the focus is on instructing players on the proper technique and form.  There will be minimal 6 on 6 gameplay and the development of skills will take place through a variety of drills and repetition.  THESE CLINICS WILL NOT MAKE YOUR DAUGHTER AN AMAZING VOLLEYBALL PLAYER IN ONE SUMMER. These clinics will provide the proper technique and form in order for your daughter to continue good habits during their future high school and club seasons.

The senior high clinics will be run by myself as well as current club and college players and coaches. The Jr. high sessions may have current high school players or players entering college helping. There will be a minimum of 3 coaches at each session and two courts will always be used. If you are a senior high player, you may attend the setters/libero clinic and hitters clinic back to back.  There is no reduced fee for this however.

Because we want these clinics to be efficient, effective and worthwhile, THERE IS A LIMIT TO THE AMOUNT OF PLAYERS FOR EACH SESSION. The cutoff for the Sr. High setters/liberos group will be 24.  The cutoff for the Sr. High "hitters" group will be 24. The cutoff for the junior high sessions will be 32. Once sessions fill up, I will place your name on a waiting list.  If you cannot attend a session you signed up for, please let me know as soon as possible.  If it is the day of the session, please text, call or email me as soon as possible.  If someone cannot make a session or cancels, I will contact the next person on the waiting list about the opening. This means the sessions are on a first come first serve basis.  To register, simply email me the information and dates you would like.  Please know what dates you can attend prior to sending me an email.  WE WILL NOT SAVE YOU A SPOT TO GIVE YOU MORE TIME TO DETERMINE YOUR AVAILABILITY. Please make sure to be specific when emailing me the dates/sessions you would like (see below):

If you plan to attend all 12 sessions a total fee of $180 can be paid at the first session (this includes 12 jr. high sessions OR 12 senior high hitting sessions OR 12 senior high setter/libero sessions OR a combination of 12 hitting and setter/libero sessions). Failure to attend a clinic for reasons other than illness, health emergency, family emergency or injury will NOT be reimbursed.  If you cannot attend a clinic for any reason, you MUST contact me as soon as possible to notify me of any changes. There are other players potentially on the wait list that need to be communicated with if an opening in a session occurs.

If you do not plan to attend all sessions, each session is $15 and can be paid in cash/check on the day of that session.  Checks can be made out to "Horseshoe Volleyball Club."  Again, you may register for both setter/libero clinics as well as hitting clinics.  The total cost then would be the number of sessions registered multiplied by $15.

If you have more than one daughter planning to attend these clinics, every daughter after your first will be charged $10 per session, or $120 if you wish to pay for all 12 sessions up front.  You MAY have one daughter attend the jr. high clinic and one attend the senior high clinic to qualify for this discount.

Cash or checks will be accepted.  Checks can be made out to "Horseshoe Volleyball Club."  All sessions will be located at the Tyrone Armory (926 S. Logan Ave, Tyrone PA 16686). We ask you arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the session to warm up.
